Animal vision MR
See the world through your pet’s eyes — in mixed reality!
This prototype simulates how different animals perceive the world by applying real-time passthrough filters in mixed reality. Built using OpenXR microgestures and custom LUTs, it allows users to switch between species-specific visual modes with a natural left/right thumb swipe — similar to Instagram or Snapchat
Each filter is based on scientific data about animal vision:
-
Humans see across the full color spectrum with three types of color receptors.
-
Cats see mostly yellow, green, and blue tones — but can’t perceive red.
-
Sharks see in black and white, with no color sensitivity.
-
Snakes rely on low-light and thermal vision, perceiving contrast and heat rather than color.

This experience offers a playful, immersive glimpse into how animals experience the world around us.
