Chameleon MR

What if you had the superpowers of Marvel’s Absorbing Man, or Kevin Levin from Ben 10 in mixed reality?
And use those 'virtual powers' to play hide and seek outdoors in a multiplayer experience.

I’ve been revisiting one of my earlier explorations, enabling users to "absorb" any texture or material from their surroundings — and making the interaction feel more natural, by grabbing or physically touching the object.

Thanks to MR motifs from Meta (environment raycasting API) and passthrough access in quest 3, you can physically touch or grab any object around you while absorbing its materials — creating a more embodied and intuitive experience.

With lightweight AR glasses set to enter the mainstream by 2026, this mechanic opens up exciting possibilities for outdoor experiences. It also brings the spirit of childhood games — like mimicry and hide-and-seek — into immersive reality.

With these capabilites, next steps involve mapping the textures to users full body to allow them to absorb any materials you see and camouflage yourself in a game of hide and seek!
